We’re off in a new direction with the Oldies (Doo Wop) Groups from A to Z Index for our oldies (doo wop) music by groups. We want to keep the record keeping up to date while utilizing our other blog. We set up the Oldies (Doo Wop) Groups from A to Z Index a few days ago and jotted down a few groups that we had originally recorded on this blog. It took a few day to set up a system on the pages and then started to tranfer the groups , one by one, to the original greendougherty.com blog linked to our web site.
I started out with a goal of using this blog but continued to have one problem after another trying to get things coordinated. My web site at godaddy had a bit to do with it at the time but most of those issues were resolved. Now that everything seems to have worked out, I decided that I would move all the oldies groups pages already set up on this blog to the greendougherty.com’s web page.
After converting the old web pages to the new web pages, I made a quick pass on the Oldies (Doo Wop) Groups from A to Z Index to make sure that I had covered all the groups, both old and new, were operatiing under the system. Bsically, that each page was consistent and in the same format. A few pages still have to be tweaked but we’re on the right road at the moment. This is how the new Oldies (Doo Wop) Groups from A to Z Index looks like.
With the avent of Bing images, I was able to utilize their image capabilities and try and match a picture to all the groups that I’ll cover over time. This initial page is a sampling of the types of pictures that are availabe in a search of the bing web site of images.
As I mentioned, as we come across a group’s name, I’ll make a search of all available resources to find a picture of the group that I am currently adding to the Oldies (Doo Wop) Groups from A to Z Index. Bing is my first choice but if that is lacking in finding a picture, I’ll make a search of the other search engines for a narrative that might have a image attache dto that particular file. I had to do that for the Latin Lads beause I was coming up blank but found a link to an ebay listing that was selling an album by Julio and the Latin Lads and behold I ended up obtaining a picture for the “L” category.
I figured that an image is an easy way to motivate poeple into taking a look at what I’m offering in memories of a great era in music. Since I solved my image problem, now it was time to start off with adding groups to my Oldies (Doo Wop) Groups from A to Z Index and I had to get started to get some type of rhythm started. It seemed foolish to start with just one group and I decided to add two groups at a time every so offen. Right now, I set up two groups, one is an “A” group called the Academics. and the other is a “L” group with the Lyrics.
This group is called the Academics and this picture will be used for the group picture. My next step will be to list all the tunes that I have as creditd to the Academics according to the list of tunes that I have on my PC. If I had more tunes, they are presently lost to a crashed hard drive(s) over the years because I had several computers but hard drive seems to, at least by my standards, a short life from the three hard drives that I had on my PC over the years.
For the purpose of this exercise, I’ll’ use the resources of my iTunes player and see what tunes that I have listed on that device. After that, I’ll check my PC and see what tunes are in My Music files and add them to the Academics web page. If one of the tunes is one of my favorite tune, I’ll usually attached a link so that one can listen to the actual tunes.
The next group that I was working with at the time was the Lyrics. As I explained above, I ‘ll use whatever resources that I have in order to list all the tunes that I have that are credited to the Lyrics at that point in time. By clicking on the following, Lyrics, you’ll see the actual web page.
Well, that covers the first installment of the oldies (doo wop) groups to be included into the new Oldies (Doo Wop) Groups from A to Z Index. Keep followin as we include another set of groups into theOldies (Doo Wop) Groups from A to Z Index. If you have a group that you would like to see featured in our every so aften addition to the Oldies (Doo Wop) Groups from A to Z Index, Just drop a comment in the comments section an we’ll see if we can add your favorite group to that’s ‘every so often’ selection to be added.
Enjoying listening to some great oldies (doo wop) from times past,
Marty Dougherty @greendougherty
