greendougherty Blog – Oldies (Doo Wop) Music
Now, I’ll connect another blog that I have been doing for quite some time on Word Press, Oldies (Doo Wop) Music. The actual title is Oldies (Doo Wop) Groups is primarily tunes that were popular in the 1950’s and were usually groups with lead singers, who usually went on to be solo singing stars. For this blog, I usually concentrate on the groups.
The primary breakdown of the main group pages are as follows:
This section was first set up as an A to Z single page but very soon was over loaded in size due to the number of groups. So, this section now is broken down into one page with a separate page for each letter of the alphabet.
As I add a new group from day to day, depending on the amount of time that I have on hand, I’ll set up a page for a specific group. For example, I have put together a page for the group called the Aztecs and the assorted tunes that I have found on You Tube with a particular tune and a link to that page.
I try to match a page for an email that I receive from a fellow Oldies and Doo Wop collector and do a blog for that particular email. If time is available, I’ll link both of those tunes that I had received from my friend via email. I’ll provide any additional information about the group that I received in the email and any information that I had on hand at the time too.
I have quite a few of these tunes that I had collected over the years and at one time I had in the area about 62,000 tunes before my hard drives crashed. My present collection is about 20,000 plus and I’ll add the name of those tunes to each particular group that I do a blog for on Word Press.
If time permits, I ll do a search of You Tube for any tunes that I have in my collection and add all those tunes to the blog. I’m a little reluctant to do any group at the moment that have a lot of tunes because I have a free blog and the past few days I had two incidences where when I was almost finished with the particular group and had to leave for a moment….and my post was gone.
I know that the SAVE button is up there in blue but both times there was no button up there and I’m not sure where the problem was or who caused it. Now that I know where it is, I look up there every time. And yes, Word Press did do an update on the Write page. This is a learning experience for the free blogger on Word Press.
Getting back to my Oldies (Doo Wop) Music, While I’m adding a few tunes to each group, I look out for some my favorite tunes that I have liked and/or found over he years and add these tunes to Marty’s Top Tunes of all Times.

Earl Lewis and the Channels
In addition to all of these options, I have added a section that deal with some of the tunes that were named after a girl’s name. It is a growing process which takes time and sometimes I may miss one here and there but please enjoy the tunes that make the lists. The one tune that comes to mind as the most popular girls’s in that of Gloria by Earl Lewis and the Channels.

Also, I have a message board that I linked to for people to use if they have a question on a particular group or song/tune that they were interested in. I don’t have the answer to a lot of question but I figured it would useful for those that do know the answers and will post a response message here.

That’s my introduction to Oldies (Doo Wop) Group via greendougherty Blog. The Oldies (Doo Wop) Group will continue to publish from the Oldies (Doo Wop) Group Blog but we’ll do a special one from greendougherty to do a special group that was my favorite group or tune..
That covers a few of the Groups with tunes on You Tube,
