greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – December 8, 2017

Another heavy period on the computer this with getting a Playlist for Picture Memories of Yorkville together. Just finished this project earlier this evening and posted a link to several groups on Facebook. It’s basically 29 videos covering hundreds of pictures collected over the years on assorted websites.

So, with that project finished, on to another for next week, here goes with this weeks Friday Roundup.

NOTE: Also, I’m still working on doing an intro for the assorted groups on Facebook under my Admin and putting a new intro for each group and the respective videos that I have related to that facebook group. Like I said, use the comment section to engage other visitors who leave comments on the videos and not only the facebook postings.

We’re getting close to getting a weekly rhythm on these blogs and the weekly roundup on Friday. I got thousands of pictures and tunes to share and hopefully I can find a way to fund the day to day operations. Having side dinero would give me peace of mind.

greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – December 1, 2017

Starting off the last month of the year on December 1st and trying to really get used to this but babysitting came to the forefront for three days this week doing the greendougherty.blog and a lot of time spent putting out an updated Out West Medical Employers took over most of my time.

So, with that purpose in mind, here goes with this weeks Friday Roundup.

greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – November 10, 2017

First off, today, November 10, 2017, is the U.S. Marine  Corps birthday, the 242nd Birthday since its founding in 1775. Oorah!

Now, getting back to the Friday Roundup.

The first thing that I’m concentrating on is doing a little editing on my KA Favorite Tunes, or, as I know them as Kick-Ass Favorite Tunes. Right now, we’re at 100+ but I know for sure that this list will grow if I get support (Subscribers).

Just added a few funnies from my email from Jim.

That covers this week’s updates to Marty’s Blogs. I’ll be adding tunes to the Oldies (Doo Wop) Music over time as I go through my music collection and look for the same tunes on YouTube.

We’re getting close to getting a weekly rhythm on these blogs and the weekly roundup on Friday. I got thousands of pictures and tunes to share and hopefully I can find a way to fund the day to day operations. Having side dinero would give me peace of mind.

Greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – November 3, 2017

This latest roundup covers the introduction of a video of Marie’s Italian Recipes on Stuffed Manicotti and added to the Irisha or Italiano blog. Also, I restarted the Picture Memories of Yorkville with the latest No. 06. Enjoy.

I finished this project last night and now will edit each alphabetical list for accuracy, spelling, and duplication of tunes.

greendougherty.Blog – How To Edit a YouTube Playlist

This is a quick step set of instructions (How to Edit a YouTube Playlist) that I needed to understand the basic instructions to get to one particular Playlist from my YouTube Playlist and see how many times it was viewed. I did a lot of jumping around because there is no straight answer from my point of view when I tried to click on a Playlist for a straight answer as to how many times the Playlist was viewed. It took a bit of time and I set up the following slides using another software program to see what I found and share it with everyone else. I may not get all the answers in this first set of slides but will give as many details for each level. So here goes.

Note: After all this, I’m still looking for one page on YouTube that can show me all of my Playlist on one page with the number of tunes in that Playlist and the number of times that it was viewed (on one page). What was I thinking?

This step process takes you from the Creator Studio and working with your Video Manager.

Videos in Video Manager

After accessing the menu from the Creator Studio, I ended up with this view. Under the Video Manager Index, I was interested in looking at my Playlists.

Select Playlist

From that view, I scroll down to Playlist in the Video Manager Directory and click on Playlists. This will open up my Playlist where Ii will scroll down to the Playlist that I want to edit.

Select U Favorite Tune Playlist

For this presentation, I click on the “U” Playlist that I am currently working with at the moment. This will open up the U Favorite Tunes Playlist which will allow me to work on several icons/dialog boxes related to every Playlist.

Click on Edit of U Favorite Tunes

I’m not sure at this stage of the instructions if this page comes up but when it did, I clicked on the EDIT and it brought me to the following page to start editing the assorted information on the U Favorite Tunes.

Tagged Areas

The above red circled areas are areas of the Playlist that can be edited or changed. The following areas are detailed below but I’ll give you a list of the items that can be added to and/or edited on your Playlist.

  • Globe icon – Access Playlist Settings
  • Change Playlist Title – “U Favorite Tunes”
  • Three Dots on Top Right Side – Delete playlist, Add all to, and Translate playlist info
  • Description of the Playlist – Add a short description about the Playlist in this section.
  • Play all – Clicking on this icon will play all the tunes in that Playlist.
  • Share Button – Allows the ability to Share, Embed and Email this Playlist. the Share Button allows you to select which of the following websites that you want to share with: Pinterest, Twitter, Reddit, Blogger, Facebook, Tumblr, Google+, BKOHTAKTE/LinkedIn/Stumbleupon. Click on the Embed Button and you’ll get a code to embed your playlist. The Email Icon opens up a new box that allows you to enter in the name of the email that you want the email sent to and a box to enter a description and also a brief explanation of the reason you are sending the email.
  • Add Videos – Clicking on this button opens up a new dialog box which allows you to Add video to the playlist via Video search, URL, and Your YouTube videos. The Video search button opens up a dialog box that allows you to search for a video on YouTube. By clicking on the URL, you can paste the YouTube URL into the box. Finally, by clicking on Your YouTube Videos, you are given the ability to pick a video from your YouTube account.
  • Toggle Button – This button deals with each tune on your Playlist and gives you the ability to change the position of each individual tune. By clicking on the icon, you can drag the tune up or down within the Playlist. I like to keep the tunes by artist’s name, alphabetically.
  • X Icon  – This button on the top right side of each tune allows you the ability to delete the tune by just clicking on the X and the tune is deleted from your Playlist.
  • More Button – By clicking on the More Button, you are giving the option to do the following with each particular tune. The options are Move to top, Move to the Bottom, Add/edit notes (of tune), and Set as playlist thumbnail. By clicking on Move to top, the playlist will move to the top of the Playlist. By Clicking on Move to the Bottom, this helped me in rearranging the tunes when I was doing them by alphabet. When I clicked on Add/edit notes, I was able to add information to the tune that may not have been listed in the original description. Finally, this last button, Set as playlist thumbnail, gives one the ability to use a great artist or album cover as a thumbnail for this Playlist.

Ability to Edit or Move or Delete Tune

Here is a view of the More Button open up a drop-down menu. This particular menu allows you to Move to top, Move to bottom, Add/edit notes, or Set as your playlist thumbnail.

Ability to Edit Each Tune for Details

In this section of the Playlist, you have the ability to Add/edit notes. In the yellow box, I have added the name of the group and the song title. I found that most people that upload tunes to YouTube forget an essential point in the description or misspell a name or leave out some basic tune information. I like to have the name of the group or artist, in the beginning, name of the tune and the year that it was recorded

Now, I’ll take you through, randomly, a few of the assorted dialog boxes on this page that allow you to make several changes to the Playlist.

Add Videos to Playlist

This particular box allows you to Add videos to this playlist.

Play Selection Box

This dialog box allows you to Play all of the Playlist tunes.

How to Share This Playlist

By clicking on the Share button allows you to

Who to Share Playlist with Icons

At this point in my Playlist, I’m able to Share, Embed or Email my Playlist. The Share button allows you to Share with the following resources: Pinterest/Twitter/Reddit/Blogger/Facebook/

Tumblr/Google+/Bkohtakte/LinkedIn/Stumbleupon

At this time, I did not click on the Embed or Email Button.

Playlist Settings

The Playlist Settings.

Playlist Settings Details

The Playlist Settings button takes you to this section which allows you to make changes to Basic, Auto Add and Collaborate. I did not look into at the moment.

Allows the ability to toggle Each Tune up and down

This section of the video has a small star icon that appears when you hover over the area with your cursor. The cross appears that you can use to take and drag the video up or down the section of the Playlist.

Search YouTube for Videos to Add to Playlist

When you click on Add videos, you will be brought to this menu page that lets you search for a particular video that you want to add to this Playlist.

Delete Playlist

All of these sections that I am highlighting in yellow and blue I am calling dialog/instruction boxes. This particular box gives you the options to Delete Playlist, Add all to, and Translate into.

Public Viewing Icon

This area highlights a Globe icon which allows everyone to see the video. If you click on the Globe Icon, it will take you to the Playlist Settings where you can make changes to who can see your videos.

greendougherty. Blog – Friday Roundup – October 27, 2017

Trying to keep the momentum for this week with the greendougherty.Blog and what was covered on all the other blogs that I produce.

On the Palms of the Dougherty Garden, I have added an Index of new palm tree videos that I have added a video for on YouTube.

I’ll be doing the same for the rest of the Dougherty Garden and include a separate video for Flowers, Tropical Plants and everything else not covered will be labeled as Miscellaneous.

The following listings will be updated as I put out a new blog for that particular subject.

For the past few weeks, I have been taking Marty’s Favorite Tunes, of which there were 600+ tunes in this playlist, and transferring each tune to a respective new list, A (Favorite Tunes) to Z, setting up a few new Favorite Tunes list which would make it easier for me to play favorite groups or single artists.

I finished this project last night and now will edit each alphabetical list for accuracy, spelling, and duplication of tunes.

How to Use Movie Maker to Make a Movie for YouTube – October 6, 2017

I’m in the process of adding Cards and End Cards to some of the videos that I have on YouTube. It’s a long, tedious job but the end game is to see if I can increase viewership to my garden videos. If I can crack the system, I’ll play around with the Yorkville pictures that I can convert to video and see if I can duplicate the effort in that group of pictures and share with everyone.

Before I get to that section of the YouTube and working with Cards and End Cards, I’ll introduce the process of trying to make a movie via Movie Maker and all the fun I was having trying to understand (WTF) what was going on while in Movie Maker.
First, I open up Movie Maker and click on Add Pictures
01 Add Pictures
Note: I use a program called Snag It that enables me to take a picture of the page, or, portion of the page that I am working on at the moment.
I’m working on the next issue of my garden blog and will be using this Movie Maker to issue my Dougherty Garden Blog. I’ll be using 19 pictures from my garden taken on October 5, 2017.
02 All Pictures Added
This is how the Movie Maker looks like with the pictures added. Notice that the pink area below the picture shows a description “DCIM\100SPORT” which I believe is the description on each picture assigned by my camera that I am using. I’ll show you how to change that description.
03 Sample Picture
This is the first picture and I have to use another tool in order to catch a few steps that are not available to use with Snag It. This is where my camera comes out to capture what I can’t grab a picture of with Snag It.
04 Click on Properties in Dialog Box
Right-click on the mouse and go down to the Properties and click on Properties.
05 Change Description to Picture
Forgive the clarity of this picture but I’ll try to get a better picture before I finish this blog. For now, the Title is: DCIM\100SPORT. It is here where you can change the description to the picture to the one that you want to show up in Movie Maker as the name of the picture.
06 Description Changes
As you can see in the above picture, the Title of the picture is now correct. The only trouble is that this feature must be changed before you Add the pictures to Movie Maker. One of the things that I do now is to make sure that the Title of the picture is correct in the Title section of the Properties. I was tending to have problems with my Movie Maker when I had to add the name to the picture in Movie Maker.
This was one of the problems that I was having and it was a headache for me. Now, when I do a project that involves pictures, I make sure that the Title is complete and accurate for all the pictures before I add them to Movie Maker.
07 Title of all Pictures Changed
As you can see, all of the Titles of these pictures are now complete and in Movie Maker. Now, I can continue with the next step in the process of how I make a movie of my pictures in the garden.
This will be a simple video of how to make a simple video. I’ll do the basics of getting a Title and the Credit for a video to keep it simple.
08 Click on Title
Using the Home Index, click on Title and a Blank Black Box will appear on your Movie Maker for you to use to enter the Title of your movie. Click on the Black Box and “My Movie Title” will appear and you can change that to the name of the movie you are working on.
09 Title of the Movie
I made the change to “Today in the Dougherty Garden” as the title of my movie in Movie Maker. I normally use a date with my blog but for simplicity’s sake, I’ll just do the Title for now.
10 Credits for Movie
This section is for adding Credits to the end of the video.
DCIM100SPORT
Drop Down Menu for End of Video Use
Sorry about the blurriness of the picture but I’m using a hand camera to take these pictures of the screen. Snag It doesn’t capture the picture. When I click on Credits, I get the Drop Down Menu. Then, when I click on Snag It, the Drop Down menu disappears. So, I have to use the camera to catch the Drop Down Menu.. I’ll try a Copy and Paste on another screen later to see if that will work.
12 Credit Screen
Credit Screen
13 Director Screen
Directed By Screen
14 Starring Screen
Starring Screen
15 Filmed Screen
Filmed on Location Screen
16 Soundtrack Screen
Soundtrack Screen
The above pictures, End Screen pictures, can be altered in any manner to let you tell your viewers anything about the video and who produced it and add further information that you would like the viewer to see. You can not add any live links at this point in these Credits. That can be accomplished, to a degree using, Cards and End Screen Annotations.
The Cards and End Screen Annotations are primarily YouTube tools that lets you promote other Channels and Videos, your Playlist or Videos on the Playlist.
The first of the end of your video starts with the Credits Screen. Everything that you see on the screen can be changed or adjusted…fonts, size of fonts and what you want to do as Credits…you can even change Credits to another word. It’s all up to you and what you want to say on each one of these screens.
Again, for simplicity’s sake, I’ll go through the Credits that I use on this video for my purpose. You can get creative on your end and do whatever you want to and change or add as many Credits as you want.  All you have to do is change the name of the page and what the Credits are for.
Link for the Finished Video on the Dougherty Garden
For now, this is as simple as it gets for making a movie out of still pictures. If you are making a movie from a movie, which I have not done so far, this is all about making a movie from pictures. My purpose here was to show how to do a movie with pictures.  I have to do videos in the near future and will tackle that in a future blog and video.
For now, I’ll convert this blog into a video and possibly add some additional comments in the video about this procedure.
