greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – December 8, 2017

Another heavy period on the computer this with getting a Playlist for Picture Memories of Yorkville together. Just finished this project earlier this evening and posted a link to several groups on Facebook. It’s basically 29 videos covering hundreds of pictures collected over the years on assorted websites.

So, with that project finished, on to another for next week, here goes with this weeks Friday Roundup.

Latest How To Video

Oldies (Doo Wop) Music

A Few Funnies From The Net

NOTE: Also, I’m still working on doing an intro for the assorted groups on Facebook under my Admin and putting a new intro for each group and the respective videos that I have related to that facebook group. Like I said, use the comment section to engage other visitors who leave comments on the videos and not only the facebook postings.

We’re getting close to getting a weekly rhythm on these blogs and the weekly roundup on Friday. I got thousands of pictures and tunes to share and hopefully I can find a way to fund the day to day operations. Having side dinero would give me peace of mind.

greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – December 1, 2017

Starting off the last month of the year on December 1st and trying to really get used to this but babysitting came to the forefront for three days this week doing the greendougherty.blog and a lot of time spent putting out an updated Out West Medical Employers took over most of my time.

So, with that purpose in mind, here goes with this weeks Friday Roundup.

greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – November 10, 2017

First off, today, November 10, 2017, is the U.S. Marine  Corps birthday, the 242nd Birthday since its founding in 1775. Oorah!

Now, getting back to the Friday Roundup.

The first thing that I’m concentrating on is doing a little editing on my KA Favorite Tunes, or, as I know them as Kick-Ass Favorite Tunes. Right now, we’re at 100+ but I know for sure that this list will grow if I get support (Subscribers).

Just added a few funnies from my email from Jim.

That covers this week’s updates to Marty’s Blogs. I’ll be adding tunes to the Oldies (Doo Wop) Music over time as I go through my music collection and look for the same tunes on YouTube.

We’re getting close to getting a weekly rhythm on these blogs and the weekly roundup on Friday. I got thousands of pictures and tunes to share and hopefully I can find a way to fund the day to day operations. Having side dinero would give me peace of mind.

greendougherty. Blog – Friday Roundup – October 27, 2017

Trying to keep the momentum for this week with the greendougherty.Blog and what was covered on all the other blogs that I produce.

On the Palms of the Dougherty Garden, I have added an Index of new palm tree videos that I have added a video for on YouTube.

I’ll be doing the same for the rest of the Dougherty Garden and include a separate video for Flowers, Tropical Plants and everything else not covered will be labeled as Miscellaneous.

The following listings will be updated as I put out a new blog for that particular subject.

For the past few weeks, I have been taking Marty’s Favorite Tunes, of which there were 600+ tunes in this playlist, and transferring each tune to a respective new list, A (Favorite Tunes) to Z, setting up a few new Favorite Tunes list which would make it easier for me to play favorite groups or single artists.

I finished this project last night and now will edit each alphabetical list for accuracy, spelling, and duplication of tunes.

The Dougherty Garden – Hawaiian Ti Plant – September 6, 2017

Featured

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One of the more popular plants in the Dougherty Garden is that of the Hawaiian Ti plant. The Hawaiian Ti plant has two versions in the Dougherty Garden. onw is the green leafed version and the other is the pink leafed version.

Scientific Name: Cordyline fruiticosa

Common Name: Hawaiian Ti

Over the years, I have produced a few videos on the Hawaiian Ti plant and here are the lniks to these videos.

COMING SOON: Recent video of the Hawaiian Ti plants growing in the Dougherty Garden, including young plants.

Pink Leafed version of the Hawaiian Ti plant. This is part of the Cordyline series of plants. Most of this series of plants have the tell tale trunk.

Green Leafed version of the Hawaiian Ti plant. You can see from this picture this is not a leggy plant.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The pink version of the Hawaiian Ti plant add a bit of color to the Dougherty Garden. What I love about this plant is that if somebody wants to grow one of these plants, all I have to do is make a cutting and dust the bottom with some rooting hormone and pot it up and in a few weeks we have a new Hawaiian Ti plant. You can even take this cutting and place the cutting in a glass of water and in a short operiod of time, roots develop.

At this point in  time I labeled the plant #742. Here are a few cuittings that I had taken from a Hawaiian Ti plant that had a leggy look.  I cut a section away asnd cut them into several section and potted them in this pot.

greendougherty.Blog – Today in the Dougherty Garden – September 3, 2017

Featured

The first in the Dougherty Garden from the new greendougherty.Blog featuring a post from Today in the Dougherty Garden. Since I’m working with a limited library, grab the pictures as I’ll delete older piuctures so that I don’t overload the library. Cutting costs on this end. Also, Today in the Dougherty Garden will combine all plants (palms, flowers, tropical plants, and then some…) into one blog and I’ll try and do a video of each blog. Enjoy.

The Latest from the Dougherty Garden

My three unknown plants at the moment. So many plants change hands over time that one forgets to write down the name and we’re subjected to searching the internet for plant names. I’ll do a blogs on just these plants the next time because they are so unusual.

Today in the Dougherty Garden – August 24, 2017

Another trip through the Dougherty Garden. Some of the pictures are from the collection over the years and most are from my current garden. Enjoy. Open to any questions, just use the comment box below.

04 Buccaneer Palm Seedling

Buccaneer palm seedling (#4) that ended up being planted in the ground at the Dougherty Garden for my grandson RJ.

This is what the Buccaneer palm tree looks like lately in the Dougherty Garden.

16 Black Bamboo Palm Seeds

Black seeds from the Bamboo palm tree that loves sitting in a terra cotta pot.

This is a spent bloom of the Bird of Paradise plant in the Dougherty Garden. I took it all apart but found no seeds in this flower.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Beautiful Bird of Paradise flower in all it s glory.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

While visiting a medical center in North Palm Beach, I came across this Bismarckia palm tree that was in the midst of pumping out seed bracts. Look at the canopy of the Bismarckia palm tree and see the numerous bracts of seeds that are getting ready to fall. As I got close to the palm tree, I always look at the base of a palm tree to see if there are any seeds. I was caught by surprise and saw a bunch of seeds and several that had already sprouted a seedling. I tried to pry one or two of the seedlings out of the ground but was not able to budge any of the seedlings. I opted for grabbing a few of the seeds that you will see in the following picture, to the right, are large back seeds.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The majority of the seeds above are from the Solitaire palm tree and the small pot to the right with a few large seeds are from the Bismarckia palm tree.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A Brazilian Needle palm tree that was the victim of a tree limb that fell on its crown that was being cut down. I cut away all of the damaged leaves and let it alone to see if the palm survived and it looks to be healthy again. this area is my shade area for plants.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Climbing Orchids – a night picture

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here is the tree that was cut down abourt a month or so, ago. I’m in the process of reclaiming the area for more plants that are not as big. The stump has to go.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My shade area of the garden with a Cabbage palm tree on the right that has quite a few different plants growing in the base of the palm tree leaves. The fern that you see is very aggressive and throws off lateral shoots and in a short period of time can take over an area. The good part is that you can pull these plants out and most of the lateral roots.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sleeping Hibiscus plant that was infested with small bugs at the tips of the new growth that I washed away with a hose.

Striped Leaf Plant

Striped Leaf plant that is a common house plant and that I call the plant that will not die. I planted this in the ground twice in a shaded area trying to get it to adapt. I put it back in a pot and it seems to be doing fine at the moment.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A Jamaican Tall Coconut palm tree in the Dougherty Garden. It produced one Coconut last year but seems to be on track to increase Coconut production this summer.
